Inventory

Inventory control center

Understand stock prerequisites, inventory dashboards, ledger behavior, settings, and permissions.

Inventory is the operational stock hub at /inventory. It is the stock engine of the Supply Chain group. The overview opens with a Keep your stock right quick start (Adjust stock, Count stock, and Products) and shows what is running low. It also shows stock value, movement, expiring lots, warehouse utilization, dead stock, and recent ledger activity from the installed supply chain capabilities.

Access and permissions

Inventory is the module that holds stock. Delivery and Purchase are modules of their own that each work with Inventory, and a sales order needs Orders and Inventory. Manufacturing is not currently offered. Warehouse stays part of Inventory and has its own row in the sidebar. See Apps catalog and modules. Users with the module can read records allowed by their scope. Creating or changing supply chain records generally requires SUPER_ADMIN or MANAGER.

Only a SUPER_ADMIN can change Inventory capability flags under /inventory/settings. A workspace can therefore expose a configuration page while the related execution feature remains disabled.

Create the prerequisites

If the Inventory Control Center shows No inventory yet, start in this order:

  1. Create a product at /products/new. See Products and the product record.
  2. Ensure the product has the appropriate inventory variant and SKU.
  3. Create a warehouse at /warehouse/warehouses.
  4. Confirm its Main stock location or create the required bins at /warehouse/locations.
  5. Receive stock through a purchase order receipt, opening adjustment, or another supported inbound operation.

Creating a product alone does not create on hand stock. A stock affecting transaction must post to the ledger.

Stock as an append only ledger

/warehouse/stock-moves is the immutable movement ledger. Confirmed receipts, deliveries, transfers, adjustments, scrap, and returns append stock moves, and so did production and unbuild entries recorded while Manufacturing was offered. The on hand cache updates atomically with those entries.

Do not correct stock by editing a historical move. Use a compensating transfer, adjustment, return, scrap, or other supported reversal. This preserves quantity, value, actor, and source traceability.

The Inventory menu

Select Inventory in the sidebar to open its dropdown. The top bar shows the same pages as tabs. A short list of everyday pages is always shown, and the rest stay out of the way until you switch them on.

Warehouse is a separate sidebar row with its own dropdown: Overview, Transfers, Stock history, Scrap, Warehouses, Locations, and, behind their own switches, the pick, pack, and quality pages. If you switch Warehouse off, all of its pages move into the Inventory dropdown, so no page loses its click path. Delivery and Purchase have their own dropdowns. See Deliveries and shipments and Vendors and requests for quotation.

Choose what shows in the menu

Open Settings in the Inventory dropdown (/inventory/settings). The first thing on the page is two short lists of switches. A switch saves the moment you flip it, and the menu updates. An app or tool that is off is hidden from the sidebar and the top bar, not deleted: its records stay and its pages still open by address. Only a SUPER_ADMIN can change them. Everyone else sees the same list, turned off, with the reason.

Apps in your menu

  • Show Warehouse in the menu: the Warehouse row, with transfers, stock history, scrap, warehouses, and locations. On by default.
  • Show Quality in the menu: quality control, quality alerts, and inspections, under Warehouse.
  • Show Barcode in the menu: the Scan page for finding, counting, and moving stock, under Inventory.
  • Show Maintenance in the menu: equipment and maintenance requests, under Inventory.

Quality, Barcode, and Maintenance are off until a workspace asks for them. A workspace that already had records in one of them keeps it on.

Advanced tools in your menu, all off by default:

  • Warehouse flow pages: board, operator screens, putaway rules, picking, waves, batches, clusters, cross dock, and packing. Each page also needs its own capability.
  • Planning pages: the executive dashboard, reorder suggestions, forecast, and safety stock.
  • Traceability pages: lots, serial numbers, expiry, and recall.
  • Catalog option pages: units of measure, product attributes, and kits.
  • Costing and accounting page: the stock accounting page with journal entries and landed costs.
  • Purchase agreements: blanket orders and long term agreements with vendors, under Purchase.

A menu switch decides only whether a page is listed. The capability flags further down the same settings page decide whether the feature itself works, so a page can be listed while its feature is off, and it then shows an explicit disabled state and creates no operational data.

Reports

Open /inventory/reports for stock on hand, stock moves, valuation, locations, and replenishment views. Exports use the current report filters. The Executive page is a separate read only analytics capability when enabled.
