Recovering deleted marketing records

Restore a deleted campaign, sequence or social post, understand the 20 day retention window, and know who is allowed to destroy data permanently.

Deleting a campaign, sequence or social post in Agaro does not destroy it. The record is marked deleted, disappears from the active lists, and waits in Recently deleted where you can put it back.

This page is worth reading before you need it. The one action here that cannot be undone is deliberately the hardest to reach.

Open Recently deleted

Open Marketing and choose Recently deleted in the header. Campaigns have their own copy of this surface at Campaigns → Recently deleted.

The page opens on tabs that each carry a count, so you can see at a glance where the missing record went:

  • Campaigns
  • Sequences
  • Social

An empty tab is not an error. It means nothing of that kind has been deleted.

Restore a record

Select the rows you want and choose Restore. The record reappears in its active list immediately, with its content as it was.

Restoring is an everyday action — any role that could delete the record can put it back. That asymmetry is intentional: we would rather you restore something you did not need than hesitate to delete.

A restored campaign comes back in the state it was deleted in. A campaign that was already sent does not re-send on restore.

The 20 day window

Eligible items are permanently removed after 20 days. Records held for

accounting, legal, or safety reasons remain protected.

Two things follow from that sentence, and both matter:

Eligible items expire. After 20 days an ordinary deleted record is removed for good by the platform, without anyone pressing anything. If you think you might want it, restore it now rather than at the end of the month.

Protected records do not. Some records are held because something else depends on them — an accounting trail, a legal retention duty, a safety record. Those stay put past 20 days and refuse to be destroyed on request. This is not a bug and it is not something an administrator can override from the interface. If a record will not purge, that is the reason.

Permanent deletion

Selecting rows and choosing Delete permanently destroys them. There is no second copy and no undo.

Three guards sit in front of it:

  1. Owners only. Only a SUPER_ADMIN can purge. Restoring is an everyday action; destroying is not.
  2. The button arms before it fires. The first press arms the action and it disarms itself after five seconds. A single mis-click cannot destroy a selection.
  3. A live record cannot be destroyed through this path however the request is shaped. The purge re-checks, inside the delete itself, that each row is both already deleted and belongs to your workspace. Ids belonging to another tenant resolve to nothing.

A workspace that is read only for billing reasons cannot purge. Pay the invoice or restore the plan first; the data is not going anywhere while you do.

Troubleshooting

A record is missing from both the active list and Recently deleted

Check that you are in the right workspace, then check the module tab. A social post deleted from the composer appears under Social, not Campaigns.

Delete permanently is greyed out or absent

You are not a SUPER_ADMIN, or the workspace is read only. Both are expected.

A record will not purge

It is protected — held for an accounting, legal or safety reason. Restore it or leave it; it will not expire at 20 days either.

Restore succeeded but the record still looks missing

The active list may be filtered. Clear the search and any status filter before concluding the restore failed.
