Tasks
Recurring work and approvals
Create daily and weekly templates, manage occurrences, require proof, and approve or reject completion.
Recurring templates create the operational occurrence that an assignee works on. The template carries assignment, schedule, approval, and recurrence configuration. Each occurrence carries its own completion outcome.
Create recurring work
Open /tasks/new?recurrence=DAILY for a daily starting point, or choose recurrence in the task form.
- Choose Daily or Weekly.
- For Weekly, choose the weekday.
- Set the time zone and schedule window.
- Assign the owner and decide whether completion requires approval.
- Save the template.
The Recurring tab shows active state, cadence, completion statistics, and approval requirement. Pause a template to stop new occurrences without erasing history. Resume it when the process returns.
Skip an occurrence
From My Today, an authorized user can skip the current occurrence with a reason. Skipping today does not stop tomorrow or the next weekly occurrence.
Use a skip for a valid one day exception. Pause the template if the underlying recurring process is temporarily inactive.
Approval workflow
When Requires manager approval is enabled:
- The assignee marks the work complete.
- The task moves to Waiting Approval.
- A SUPER_ADMIN or MANAGER opens the Approvals tab.
- The reviewer approves, rejects with a reason, or requests changes where offered.
- Approval completes the work. Rejection or requested changes returns it to the assignee for correction.
Reviewers should record a useful reason. The assignee receives the outcome and needs enough information to correct the work.
Evidence
The task Evidence tab can store an HTTP or HTTPS proof link and supported attachments. Evidence is not automatically proof of correctness. The reviewer should open it before approving.
Common problems
| What you see | What to check |
|---|---|
| No occurrence spawned | Confirm the template is active, schedule and time zone are correct, and the occurrence was not skipped. |
| Approvals tab is missing | The role or Approvals module does not grant access. |
| Rejected task still appears active | Rejection intentionally sends the work back for correction. |
| Evidence URL is rejected | Use a safe HTTP or HTTPS URL within the length limit. |
