Production planning and engineering changes

The Master Production Schedule at /manufacturing/mps plans demand by product and week. Engineering Changes at /plm govern recipe updates. These capabilities are separately enabled under Inventory settings.

#Master Production Schedule

1. Open /manufacturing/mps.
2. Choose the planning horizon and product.
3. Enter or update the weekly forecast.
4. Review projected on hand, incoming supply, and suggested replenishment.
5. Generate replenishment for selected shortfalls.

The generator creates Draft manufacturing orders for products you make and Draft purchase orders for products you buy from their best supplier. It does not confirm, receive, or complete them.

Review every generated document before execution. Forecast is a planning input, not proof of customer demand.

#Work center planning

Operations attached to the recipe and manufacturing order can target work centers. Availability, dependencies, estimated duration, time off, and actual shop floor time provide the scheduling context.

Do not use a work center merely as a label if operations need sequence or duration. Put those values on the routing operation so the order can carry them.

#Engineering change workflow

Use an Engineering Change Order for an approved live recipe change:

1. Open /plm and create or open the change.
2. Review the current Bill of Materials version.
3. Enter the intended component or operation changes.
4. Complete the required review and approval stages.
5. Apply the change.

Application snapshots the prior version and advances the live Bill of Materials. Confirmed manufacturing orders remain tied to their prior snapshot.
