App builder

Share an app with your team

Choose who can open an app, follow someone else's build, and understand why only one person edits at a time.

An app you build is visible to your whole workspace by default. You can narrow that, let colleagues watch you work, and hand the editing session between you.

Everything on this page lives in the More panel of the builder, under Collaboration.

Who can open an app

Only the person who created an app can change who sees it. There are four choices:

SettingWho can open it
Only meJust you.
My teamEveryone on a delivery team you pick.
Whole workspaceEveryone in the workspace. This is the default.
A groupEveryone in an access group you pick.

Two details worth knowing. You always keep access to an app you created, even if you scope it to a team you are not a member of — otherwise you could lock yourself out of your own work. And a team or group app whose team or group is later deleted becomes reachable by its creator only, rather than falling open to the whole workspace.

Changing this is recorded in the workspace activity log, because it is an access decision.

Following an app

Following an app lets you open it and watch it change. It grants nothing else: a follower cannot edit, publish, or change settings. You can only follow an app you are already allowed to open.

The Collaboration panel lists everyone following, and marks who is editing.

Only one person edits at a time

App Builder writes whole files on every change. If two people generated changes at once, one person's work would silently overwrite the other's. So editing is held as a session: one person holds it, everyone else follows.

  • Start editing takes the session when nobody holds it.
  • Release hands it back so a colleague can pick it up immediately.
  • While someone else holds it, your edits are refused with a message naming them, and nothing is charged against your builder credits.

The session is a lease, not a lock. It expires on its own if the person holding it closes their laptop, loses connection, or crashes their browser — so an app can never get stuck behind someone who walked away. It refreshes automatically while the builder is open.

Two browser tabs count as two sessions, even for the same person. Opening the same app twice will show the second tab as following.
